Q1:
Can I/How do I clean mouthpieces, airway systems, manikins?
A:
Follow CDC protocols for disease control, and manikin instructions for
maintaining best protection. Airways must be replaced according to
instructions to remove any chance of bacteria growth and contamination.
Use household cleaners like soap and water, 409, Fantastic, or others to
remove dirt and grime from the manikins.

Q2:
Why don’t my Heart Start 911 or Model 3000 patient electrodes work with
the Laerdal adapters supplied with the Simulaids ECG simulator?
A:
Laerdal adapters function only with Heart Stream models. Heart Start
models will not work. There is a translation cable from R2 to Heart Start
snaps available from: R2 Medical Systems, Division of Ballard Medical,
Draper, UT. 801-572-6800

unit is not functioning. How do I get it repaired?
A: All
product returns must be authorized by the customer service department of
the distributor through whom you purchased the item. Please call them and
request a return authorization number. Be sure that number is clearly
labeled on the outside of your package. Also, include within the return
box a detailed description of the problem you are having.

Q6:
Can I/How do I clean mouthpieces, airway systems, manikins?
A:
Follow CDC protocols for disease control, and manikin instructions for
maintaining best protection. In other words, if the manikin instructions say
each student gets their own airway/lung bag, don’t try to short cut by
instituting some other method thinking that you will save $.30. Airways should
always be replaced to remove any chance of bacteria growth and contamination.
Use household cleaners like soap and water, 409, Fantastic, or others to remove
dirt and grime from the manikins.

Q8:
How can I save money and cleaning problems when practicing defibrillation
scenarios?
A:
The hardwired (R-2 style) electrodes can be replaced with Simulaids’
training cables. These cables are made with specific defibrillator
manufacturer’s connector plugs and Simulaids’ adapter post connectors.
Using these cables and adapters eliminates the cost of replacing the R-2
style leads and totally eliminates cleaning. It will also give you
positive connection, and eliminate faulty readings by the defibrillator.

What replacement parts are available for Rescue Randy? Prices?
A:
The parts you can replace
in the field are limited to the extremities. Parts vary according to weight and
style of the manikin. Call 800-431-4310 for quotes. The factory also replaces
and repairs these manikins. You must call for a return authorization for
repairs.

Is there a way to make clean up easier when I’m using stick-on electrode pads
on the manikins?
A:
Yes! Use an automotive paste wax like Turtle Wax on the areas of the vinyl skin
where the pads are to be placed. The pads will peel off easier, too.
